"My only oven" 2010-01-11

I live in a motorhome full time, so this gets a lot of use and near constant travel rattles and shakes. Still, it worked very dependably for four years.

Pros: it serves me well as my only oven and it's a microwave as well. On the broil setting, using the racks rather than a cooking tray, it serves as my BBQ as well. Efficient use of space.

Con: the over-range light is very dim so I have to supplement. Also, there are times when you do have to plan ahead because if you know that you will need to microwave something immediately after broiling something, you will want to have alternative heating methods at the ready so that your plastic microwave service does not melt. The white ceramic tray does discolor, but top can be restored with Soft-Scrub with bleach. Be very careful with the open/close button. We mickey-moused a solution after ours kept getting stuck when the door was closed. When we were more gentle with our closings, the problem stopped. The inside is stainless steel and is very hard to clean using manufacturer's instructions. The outside of the stainless steel unit it not stainless steel. It's silver plastic - something that is never made clear in spite of the increased price for what was sold to me as a stainless steel front.

My unit just broke. I'll be taking it out for an estimate and if needs, will replace it with an identical unit. I understand that this is a short life span for such an appliance, but I do think that constant travel may have had something to do with that. I would be disappointed if it happened in a permanent house.

I have owned 2 microwave convection Sharp Carousel's. One on the counter and one over the range. Both have lasted an extremely long period of time without any problems and were easy to clean. I believe my mom is on her 3rd in 25 years! I recently own a Kenmore Elite micro convection hood and 1) it will never heat to 450, 2) it takes a half hour to heat to 350 and 3) it died after 3 years!!! I recommend this to anyone looking! LOVE IT.

We bought the first one of these almost 4 years ago when we remodeled the kitchen. It has performed flawlessly as a microwave and convection oven. We did not use it as an over-range exhaust fan in that first installation.

I just ordered the second one for use above a small cooktop range in a small kitchen in a "mother-in-law" suite we're building for extended visits by family. I'm expecting the same fine performance.

I have been unable to find filters that fit this microwave. I ordered some through Sharp and they didn't fit. Sharp told me that I would have to get a service man out to install them. The service man could not install them and he called Sharp and was told that there was a design error and there were no filters available for this model. Sharp would not reimburse me for the expense of the service call. Otherwise, it is a great microwave/convection oven.

I've selected this model, because it is the only convectional microwave oven that fits my kitchen. Other models require some extra space in front of the microwave on the left side, to be able to open the door. It is not a problem for most kitchens, but if you have a deep cabinet to the left of the microwave that extends in front of oven, Sharp seems like the only option. Sharp has put a smaller door that starts about an inch from the left side of the microwave, so it opens freely.

So far I was not disappointed. I'm mostly using the microwave mode, convectional mode. It cooks well, and the menu is rather intiutive - what else do you need? Auto reheat works well and produces consistently good results. I was not getting very good result with mixed mode (oven + microwave) though.

There are some faults in this model, that I think Sharp should've done better, so it only got 4 starts:

1) The menu system could be better. E.g. the Start button on most microwaves also serves as 'Add minute' or 'Add 30sec', but here it would not do anything - one has to use dedicated 'Add minute' button. I got used to it, but my guests can't easily find this button.

2) The fan is very very loud. It has two speeds, but even with reduced speed, it is very loud. It does not look extremely powerful either.

3) The range light is generated by two small incandescent bulbs. I would expect energy efficient fluorescent lamps or LEDs for this high-end oven. They could've perfectly fit a long tube there, but have instead put old unefficient incandescent bulbs.

4) The interior is stainless steeel, but it is not very smooth, so it takes some effort to clean the microwave.

I am enjoying this appliance very much. It is easy to clean and more versatile than anything else that i looked at. My toaster is now in the cupboard and I don't miss it. I thought that this would be used now and then as others have written, but I have yet to put it away. It does use a lot of counter space but I find it to be worth while.

It creates a convection without the noisy fan. Anything too thick to cook in here, I would probably grill or bake anyways. Just about everything I put in it tastes better than from a microwave. Great design and solidly made. I snatched it up at a great price of $69.99 including free shipping.

I talked my wife into buying one of these when our toaster oven failed. It turns out that this is not a toaster oven or anything close in my opinion. It is great for certain foods that benefit from sitting on a solid hot surface, but not that great for food you want to "toast", that is, expose to a burner directly from both sides, like a toaster.

I tried "toasting" bread with it and it really didn't work so well.

The deal breaker for us was the accessability factor. Our oldest son is just learning to use appliances. He can open a toaster oven door, put something on the grill, close the door, and press the on button safely, and then remove his food after the oven goes off. But that requires front access, and this is a top access device.

Furthermore, when you open the top it's just one huge hot surface, and even I as an adult would need to be very careful and use a spatula to get stuff off the surface. Then there's the exposed hot element in the upper lid that you have open while you're carfully getting your food off the hot surface of this oven.

So, as far a teaching our kids the basics of running appliances, this one is a non-starter and we sent it back.

Pity though. I rather liked it myself, and I wish we had the counter space and a genuine need to keep it.

This is a nice little oven. It combines utility and perfection in a small size. It has a nice small footprint so it does not take up much room. For such a little thing, it is a real dynamo!

We use it in a staff breakroom. It gets a lot of wear and tear. It is holding up very well.

We have been making all sorts of things in it. Pizzas come out very well. We have even baked a pre-cooked ham in it. Every thing comes out very well, perfectly cooked and delectable!

The clean up is pretty easily done. All in all, we like it a lot!

This fun little unit is a counter-top convection oven that is designed for baking pizzas, hors d'oeuvres, and other small foods. It has a relatively small footprint (meaning no pizza larger than 12 inches) and even when opened it fits comfortably on the counter-top beneath the cupboards. It's black and silver finish gives it an attractive look that means that you won't mind leaving it on the counter all the time.

You place the food on a revolving baking tray, and it cooks it in a quick and even manner, making it an excellent alternative to the microwave oven. I have an electric oven in the kitchen, which seems to take hours to warm up. I wasn't quite sure what to think of this item, as it wasn't a traditional toaster oven, but it also wasn't a George Foreman like grill either.

What I made with it came out pretty well, cooking frozen chicken breasts while keeping them juicy (unlike the George Foreman grill). I think this would be very useful if you're into making a lot of snacks, like pizza and chicken nuggets, but like all small appliances, its usefulness is limited by the room it takes up when you're not using it, the need to clean it after use, and the hassle of setting it up in order to use it.

I would gladly pay $75 for such an item, but the going price of almost $150 is too much for what it does.

"Reheated pizza pretty well... then it died" 2009-08-03

We didn't really use this very often, mostly for reheating pizza. I never found it to be good for toast as it took forever and toasted unevenly. But it came in handy now and then. However, two days ago I went to make some bagel pizzas for the kids and while the tick tick of the timer sounded, nothing else worked properly. I tried several outlets. Wasn't the issue. No lights and no heat.

I usually read reviews before buying appliances. Either this was so new that the reviews weren't out yet or I bought on impulse. Either way, I'm disappointed. We've had this maybe 2 years...??

I think I'll be checking out another brand for the next toaster oven.

I owned a DeLonghi Convection Oven for 15 years that work flawlessly until it gave out. I bought this in November 2008 to replace it and on April 2009 smoke started to billow out of the vents of the oven as the wiring shorted out and the house filled with smoke. Lucky I was standing nearby to unplug it and rush it outside the house. I am a huge DeLonghi fan and have owned and used their products for decades with excellent results. This is the first time that I have ever had a problem. I noticed that I am not the only one here that had the oven fail prematurely. Let's see how well DeLonghi takes care of my problem. I will post an update if that happens.

I did a lot of research into the best toaster oven. Here's what I found.

* If you want to use this as a small oven as well (saves on some electricity since you are not heating an entire oven) the best one out there is the Breville Oven which I found at WIlliam Sonoma. At about $300 it is a pricey investment, but if you can afford it, it's worth it.

* All the reviews I have read, said that the toaster oven really doesn't do good toast. Also, that not much has changed in the design of these appliances except that the price and size has gone up tremendously.

*After looking at the selection in a local store, I would have to agree. The lower-end ovens felt like cheap imitations of the toaster oven I knew and loved as a kid. Some of them are bigger now - hence the "oven" function - but the price has gone up as well.

* I bought the Breville, took it home and tried it out. I loved it! However my husband didn't like the pricetag in our current economy. I had to return it. But let me say that this oven is worth the money. You get good toast and a good oven. All the features advertised are there and work well. It only takes a few minutes to heat the oven to 450 and has the space to fit a 12" frozen pizza.

* I ended up finding this oven, DeLonghi, on sale through Amazon for $49. which was a very significant markdown. For that price we decided to buy.

* This is a far cry from the Breville: the toast doesn't brown evenly on both sides, it has an annoying ticking sound as the timer counts down, It takes a l o n g time to toast, and worst of all, there is no interior light! However, you can fit a 12" pizza in it, just be prepared to rotate it since this oven doesn't cook evenly.

* Oh, and another feature that I would think would be a no brainer, is to have the rack come out when the door is opened. Of course my beloved Breville has this, but not the rated "D" DeLonghi.

* I would have been very upset if I had paid full price for this. If you can't afford the Breville, and you can find this for a low price, it's probably worth considering. I think DeLonghi is probably phasing this out.

We have owned two of these ovens. The first was red. It lasted about ten years. Our current oven is black; it's in it's fourth year. It does a fine job of toasting - with grill marks! Baked potatoes come out crisp-skinned and perfect. We have never broiled, so I cannot comment on that function - sounds too messy for a toaster oven. It is a very stylist appliance to adorn a kitchen!

Absolutely the worst toaster oven I have ever owned, and I have had several brands over the years. I bought it expecting a high quality item that would last for years. Instead we found the bread and bagel took ages to toast, and then was toasted unevenly. The oven seemed to overheat. And the dials were a complete annoyance as they were constantly being left on the wrong setting (toast/bake). Not to mention the damned ticking.

The coup de grace was when the top element melted down while toasting and completely fell to pieces on top of an English muffin. I won't be replacing it with another DeLonghi product, believe me.

The door on ours too won't shut, the spring hardly works to keep it shut, and don't forget the annoying ticking sound that the toaster timer makes, that is if you can determine where the unidentified little knobs are pointed in the first place! Unfortunately, there was only ONE review when I bought this appliance. Guess which one. Discontinue this bomb! (Zero stars should be an option!).

We purchased this product to supplement our regular oven. We normally cook one or two biscuits every morning and thought we could save time and energy having a counter top oven. The instructions stated that it would require less time to cook and a lower temp...not so! It took 25-30 minuites to cook two biscuits at the usual temp (on our conventional oven) of 450 degrees. Also the trays tip downward when you pull them out. We are going to return this unit immediately. We have bought Black & Decker products for all our lives, but this unit falls far below our expectations.

This is not a review that the numbers are too small, there is no light, I do not like the beeping. Other than a small fire, I LOVED this toaster oven, but it is hard to get over flames in your kitchen.

While I have had B&D toasters for over 15 years, I was shocked to be standing in my kitchen while I watched the top heat element spark and flame up while making dinner. I use this toaster oven on a regular basis for baking and broiling and have had no problems for nine months. When I was six minutes into broiling a steak (one of the main uses), it started to spark and at seven minutes it broke out into flames that did not decrease when the unit was unplugged.

My mother also owns the unit and uses this more than the stove. The day before my fire, her unit would not work unless the timer and temperature were both on (had not happened before). I find it odd that two toasters in two states would break in the same weekend.

We were reasonably happy with this toaster oven; although it didn't toast well or evenly, the glass gets very dirty, it gets very hot and the heating element coils catch on fire frequently. We were willing to settle for this less than stellar functionality until this morning when toasting some hash brown patties. All of a sudden there were sparks flying out of either end of the toaster oven (literally sparks of fire shooting all over the kitchen counter and toward me) and then before you know it the unit was on fire inside. Thankfully we were able to unplug it before there was any real damage; no damaged kitchen cabinets and no kitchen fire - but if we had left the kitchen for a minute, our kitchen could have caught on fire. This is the second TRO651 that we purchased, and the second one to bite the dust! I will definitely buy another toaster oven, but I will definitely NOT buy another Black and Decker.

Black & Decker makes pretty good light-use power tools so I figured this oven would do the trick too. Not so. The "convection" fan, which didn't noticeably improve cooking from the start, ceased operation after about 10 uses and after about 3mos. the toaster function quit. This was not from high volume use - we're talking one person using it about 2-3 times/week and mostly on toaster setting. The only way is works now is on "oven" setting. This product is weak for the $50-plus price tag.

I had numerous problems with this Toast-R-Oven. I've only had it slightly over a year and I am now junking it and looking for a new one by a new brand.

Within about one month, the oven temp dials popped off, and continued to do so each time I used the toaster. The handle to the glass door came loose next and must be reattached each time or I will burn my fingers. The coils are placed in such a way that it overcooks near the front of the oven, but not enough in the middle. Toast is ALWAYS inconsistent, sometimes burnt on the ends but not toasted in the middle. It Never toasted evenly on both sides. Any attempts at baking result in the same problems.

On the plus side, I did not have some of the other problems often seen with toaster ovens. The timer turns off automatically when I open the door. It was a simple chirp that could be heard but not too loud. I liked having the crumb tray pull out from the front. And the coil protetion was helpful for dripping pizza and such.

Considering the price of this toaster oven and the problems I have had, there are others that are much cheaper which I am sure would do a much better job.

This is a very badly designed door release.

The plastic construction will melt if you cook right below it.

I have it changed 2 times and still melted after 1 1/2 year.

The LCD is another cheap module.

It stops working properly after 1 year.

We bought our Toaster Oven at Walmart, Kelowna, BC approximately 6 months ago (cannot locate out receipt for confirmation). Right from the get-go it never toasted well (we would have to put the setting on the darkest and then run our bread throught TWICE. Even then it would just get hard and dry rather than toasted). Now it doesn't even warm up. First the bottom element went, now both are gone. We are very disappointed in our purchase. We thought with a name like Proctor Silex we were buying a quality product, one that would last AT LEAST a year! We paid good money, thinking if we bought a brand name product it would be worth the extra few dollars. WRONG.

I needed to get this Roaster Oven because I didn't have enough oven capacity to get everything done for Thanksgiving this year. With lots of family coming to visit, and requests for "Stuffing Muffins", Ham, and a 22lb turkey to cook I couldn't take a chance with my gas kitchen oven - it's left me down too many times in the past. Turkeys from my kitchen oven would come out under done internally and overdone and dried out on the outside. So I did what my Mom used to do - she cooked her turkey in a Nesco Roaster. This year our turkey came out perfectly moist and delicious with compliments from everyone.

A few technical comments: Yes, you do have to cook out the roaster for the first time in a well-ventilated area because it cooks off anything that may be part of the internals. Doing this creates an odor that some may think is unpleasant. I didn't mind the odor but I did it outside so odors were not a bother. I actually did this twice on consecutive days and the Nesco worked odor-free since.

I especially liked the stainless steel cookwell - it just seemed to help with the cooking and was easy to clean when finished. The rack that was included made it an easy job to get the bird out of the roaster when it was time to carve it.

The Nesco comes with a recipe book that I wish had more recipes in.

This roaster helped me with my Thanksgiving Dinner. I was using my oven for side dishes so I put the turkey in the roaster and it worked great. The only downfall is the cleaning, but I just soak the cookwell in my bathtub and then use a brillo pad and some elbow grease. You will read a lot of reviews commenting on the smoking of the roaster and yes, this roaster does require you to do a smoke out...Don't let that discourage you...Just get an extra long extension cord and the minute it arrives, take it outside plug it in and turn it on as the directions tell you and let it do it's thing. I did it just like that. I let it cool completely once it was done and then the next time I used it was for the Thanksgiving Bird and I did not experience any bad smells. I think this could also work great in an RV. We hope to get an RV one day so I'll be ready to go with my NESCO Roaster!

Don't worry about the burn out. Yes it smokes and it's very pungent (do it outside or in your garage) but it's only one day in the probable very long life of this roaster. The high quality is hard to miss when you examine it. The stainless steel says a lot, but it's sturdy too and I noticed it's even insulated which I didn't expect. If you value quality like I do, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

I have used tabletop convection ovens for years because I like the way they seal the meat on the outside and roast thoroughly and evenly while still retaining the juices. Early models were a dome that sat over a shallow pan and allowed grease to escape and dribble down the sides. Then came models with the heating element and fan mounted on a lid that fit over a deep bowl. That eliminated the problem of liquids escaping, but occasionally I touched the backs of my hands to the hot glass while removing the meat and said very bad words. Sunpentown has created the perfect design with their wok-based model. No liquids escape, and I can remove the contents without any risk of burning myself. It sits up on a stand so that the hot wok base does not touch your countertop or table.

This is an ideal oven for roasting whole chickens. There's plenty of room for up to about a 6-1/2 pound bird. I roast chickens breast-side down on the included rack with a little fresh rosemary or sage tucked under the breast and thigh skin. The fats drain away below the rack so your chicken isn't sitting in a puddle of grease. Racks of baby back ribs and pork roasts come out wonderfully moist and tender.

Favorite vegetable dishes are acorn and butternut squash baked with a little butter and brown sugar. If you do nothing but roast potatoes in this oven, it's worth the price. A favorite in my house is potato wedges. Slice the potatoes lengthwise into wedges. I like red rose potatoes, but any kind works well. Coat the wedges with a light-flavored oil such canola or corn by pouring about 1/4 cup of oil into a plastic bag and shaking them around. Lay out the wedges on the rack so they aren't touching, sprinkle with seasoned salt, and roast at 450 for about 20 minutes. You'll enjoy the best taters you ever ate.

I bought this appliance last year and have had no problem with it. Until last night when I was broiling some Italian sausages, suddenly the door exploded sending red hot shards of glass all over my countertop, and bouncing off onto the floor. After most of the glass falls out the frame collapses into pieces. Two other reviews report the same problem, so I don't think I will even be bothering to try and find a replacement door. It's a hazardous product and I will NEVER buy anything from Toastmaster again. I noticed on the back of my oven that it was "made in China" Can we add this company to our ever growing list of garbage from China?????

I've had this for about two months, and while it gets the job done, it's not exactly ideal.

It does cook as required in terms of bake and broil modes with french fries, egg rolls, fish, and steak. I have not used it for a lengthy broil session (such as using the rotisserie feature).

However, the enclosed owner's manual has several blank (unprinted) pages throughout. The internal light bulb went out almost immediately after I began using it (it blinks on briefly sometimes when the oven door is closed), and - the most annoying characteristic - the convection fan makes a loud rattling sound for several minutes when the oven is turned on (and often briefly when the door is opened or closed during cooking), as if the fan is misaligned.

My old Toastmaster oven (which lasted for years and years) had a nice feature, which was a preheat light that turned off when the oven had reached the desired preheat temperature, which this one does not have.

It works, but it's noisy and not very well made.

This is the perfect oven for me. I have to cook from a wheelchair. The door opens from the side so I don't have to reach over a hot door. The door also comes off easily for cleaning. The door coming off also makes the unit lighter to move around. This is the new model and has some improvements. My old one did not have a light or convection or rotisseri. I had my old one for 25 years and was very glad to find that Toastmaster still makes them. The new one has an extension in the back so you can use 12 inch round pans such as a pizza pan. I bake and broil everything in this oven. It works great. Of course it is too small for a very large turkey but you will be surpirsed what you can fit into it. It is very nice looking. The exterior is all stainless steel and very well made. I don't think you will be disappointed with this oven.

This microwave works well. If it lasts 10 years like our GE spacemaker - then I would say it is a great buy. The quality and engineering is excellent.

Install: Item is actually alot lighter than i had thought. Im a average size guy - 6'2 228lbs.. and picked up/mounted it no problem. The directions were clear, and precise. While i do appreciate the template, it was obsolete as im fairly sure my house was NOT built to code.. OF COURSE. i had to get creative with mounting it.

If you use the template instructions, its easy.. but even if you cant - as long as you understand the general idea of "mounting heavy item needs screws into studs" you should be fine. After i mounted the bracket, i cut the exsisting wires that went to the previous fan/light and then connected my own wire set. I fished that up thru a hole i bored in the back of the cabinet and pulled it thru to the cabinet above the stove. Wired it up to a box/socket, placed micro on bracket, lead power cord up to socket and BAMO! we have a mounted, powered microwave.

Looks: Beautiful. It wasnt even mounted when friends had said it was a very nice looking unit. (hey - we are remodeling our kitch on a budget.. )

Functions: I am blown away. the description on line was an understatement. TURBO FAN???? light, and NIGHT LIGHT DIMMER, and i absolutely LOVE the dial. u want a to control the minutes - no problem.. u wanna kick it up and jump ahead to advance minutes or pounds? just spin the dial faster and it will pull it up. VERY easy and i love the push button idea of it. u dont want the dial sticking out - push it in and it will hide away.

Other functions and space: wow- it came with a slide in rack??? i can microwave a whole boat load of stuff. I could literally stick 2 of our old microwaves inside the cooking area of this bad boy..

Inverter turbo defrost: just that.. i mean the first time i saw this in action was at a friends house. 1lb of meat perfectly defrosted in about 3 minutes??? wow.. AND i LOVEEEE that when meat is half way done defrosting, it will BEEP to notify u that u need to flip it over.

Sound: not too bad at all. alot quieter than our other microwave.. the turbo speed fan is kinda loud, but if u need to evacuate smoke from the area - its your best friend.

Display: easy to read, bright.

There were no reviews when i had purchased this item.. i knew it was coming because i had called Panasonic and asked why they sold similar items in canada but not US.. the rep just stated "next month we will have a series coming out that will be incredible. if you can wait, we d make sure you enjoy the micro".

Also - what i had learned is microwaves cook at 75% power some of the time, and than switches to a significantly lower power rating.. this micro goes at 60%, 100% of the time.

Its just incredible!

Value: fantastic. go out and find a microwave that has as many features, that is over the range, and a rack, and everything else and tell me the price. u WILL NOT FIND IT NEAR THIS PRICE. GO BUY THIS UNIT!!!!

"Perfect over-the-range microwave" 2009-10-21

For many years, I owned a countertop Panasonic microwave oven and it worked flawlessly. I didn't need a countertop microwave anymore when I moved to a new house that had an over-the-range (OTR) microwave. This was about ten years ago. Since that time, I really missed the size, power and reliability of the Panasonic, so when it was time to buy a new OTR microwave, I shopped around and looked at almost every brand, and was happy to see that Panasonic made an OTR microwave.

I must say that I am a deliberate shopper for almost anything. I research everything and look for quality, reliability and, of course, price. I read expert and consumer reviews from many sites, including Amazon. I looked at OTR microwaves in the $200-300 price range from brands such as GE, LG, Kenmore, Panasonic, Whirlpool, etc. The Panasonic was just plain nicer than any of the others. It was also larger and more powerful than most. The Amazon price, which I thought was extremely low compared to other retailers, was almost too good to be true. Plus, I knew from past experience that Panasonic microwaves were built to last and perform. So the decision turned into a no-brainer for me.

First, let me tell you that the Panasonic was a breeze to install. Despite having a large 2 cubic foot cooking space, it was not overly heavy. In fact, it weighed less than the much smaller unit it was replacing. However, I would recommend that 2 people install it just to be safe.

There are several ways for the exhaust to work and I suggest you read the excellent manual that comes with the oven before you install the thing or you may have to take it down to adjust it for your particular situation. I have a rear exhaust so that required me to remove the fan blower cover (3 screws) and rotate the blower motor 90 degrees (then screw the cover back on). Then I had to put some covers over where the blowers used to be aimed (easy--1 screw each). It also required a simple cut out of the rear exhaust hole on the back of the microwave (the metal is already crimped there and you just need some utility shears and a pair of pliers to remove the thin metal covers).

Once that was complete, Panasonic provides a paper template so that you can figure out where to put the holes in the wall for the screws that hold the mounting plate in place. (You can also just put the mounting plate against the wall and do it that way, but the template was pretty decent especially if you are using rear exhaust like me). Don't just assume you can use the holes from your prior microwave if you are replacing it. In any event, you want to obviously screw the mounting plate into studs if possible. Even though the microwave will hang via screws from the upper cabinets in most situations, you still want that back mounting plate as secure as possible. If you can't get it mounted to all studs, Panasonic provides some drywall winglock anchors too.

After the mounting plate is installed, the oven slides onto the pull out mounting glides on either side. The second person should then support the oven (just to be safe) while the 2 top mounting screws are installed through the upper cabinets. And that's it--your done!

The manual that comes with the oven is excellent. I skimmed it in about 10 minutes and was ready to do just about everything. The thing that you will notice right away about this oven is that it doesn't have a numeric keypad. Instead, it uses a push out dial. I like the dial a lot. My wife was skeptical at first but even she likes it now. Push it and it pops out. Turn it slowly to add seconds, a little faster for 10 second intervals and a little faster still for minute intervals. It's just so easy and fast. Then hit start. For a quick hit, it does have a 1 minute button. Push it 2 times and you get 2 minutes--you get the idea. This is what I use all the time since I am always heating things in 1-3 minute time periods. It also has other push buttons for popcorn (haven't tried it yet), fan speed (see below), power level, etc. So you aren't using the dial for everything.

This oven has 5 fan speeds! Most in this price range have 2 or 3. The "super" and "turbo" are the highest and I don't really think you need them too often. Their pretty loud too but biy are they powerful. The "high" setting is what I use most often and it works great and is quiet as well.

There are 2 light settings--"on" and "night". Pretty standard but the lights on this thing work a lot better than the lights on my previous oven.

The power of this oven is quite evident. It is not overly loud, nor overly quiet. But it does heat food quickly and evenly which is what I think everyone wants in their microwave oven.

All in all, I would highly recommend this Panasocic OTR microwave oven. From its size, quality construction, handsome look, extensive features, ease of installation and stellar performance, you really cannot go wrong. Since I have only had it about a week (but have used it everyday since), I may update this review in a few months if there is anything else to add.

Had this toaster oven about a year and the top elements don't work anymore and so I can't toast. I don't recommend this oven. It has an annoying hyperactive tick as it toasts, and it never really did a great job with toasting - I should get a real toaster - it did a fair job baking although hard to know what the real temperature is as the dials are not particularly accurate. I have decided that for my needs, my gas oven does a great job baking and broiling, and so I am going to get a real toaster as that is what I used this device for the most.

I had this oven for about six months and the numbers and markings wore off with cleaning. I am not a compulsive cleaner and probably only cleaned it once every two or three weeks.

B&D replaced the oven with another one when I called them and mailed them the end of the electrical cord and an additional $7.50. They didn't have a white one so they sent black. It has been about six months now and again the numbers and markings are wearing off the second one.

They are sending me another oven, as soon as I send the the cord end and a letter statng the problem. They also wanted me to send another $7.50 but waived the fee when I said I would not give them more money.

They suggested that what I use to clean the toaster ovens was too harsh. I use the same thing on every appliance in the kitchen and this is the only one to lose the markings.

This is a great little toaster oven! Heats up pretty fast and even, toasts pretty even & not too slow (about 3 - 4 minutes for medium) and broils such things as fish sticks and chicken nuggets quick and crispy. And unlike MANY toaster ovens, the door closes tight. Love the removable crumb tray and adjustable rack. My last oven was a B&D and it lasted 12 years. In reading many toaster oven reviews I am amazed at the number of people that really don't understand what a toaster oven is for. It's pretty simple. If you want fast toast, get a toaster. If you want to bake great, use a large oven. Toaster ovens are for those in between jobs. And this one has performed great for the last 4 months.

My old Black and Decker toaster oven died after 5 years (shouldn't they last longer!?) but we liked it ok so I went to find another. I bought this newer model hoping for similar performance and a longer lifespan, but I am sad to say that we'll never find out about the lifespan because we returned it after just 3 weeks. Like so many of the reviews I've read for other ovens, it baked ok, but toasted unevenly. It has two rack levels, but one is too high and the other too low for toasting. Also, the timer ticks so loudly that it is an annoyance. Where oh where is the quality, Black and Decker????

I would look elsewhere, this is not well designed.

"Good toaster oven...so far" 2009-06-07

I just bought this toaster oven yesterday and have used it three times so far. First, it is sleek, stylish, and a good size for a toaster oven (it can hold a whole frozen pizza woo!). Second, it was easy to set up and the instruction manual was very well written. I was able to use the bake, warm, and toast functions without much problem. The crumb tray is also large and removes easily. With that said, I cannot vouch for other's reviews about it almost causing fires. I think, with any appliance, it is probably a good plan to test the features closely first before adopting a casual attitude. Anyway, I am happy with it so far and hope it lives up to the quality of the Oster brand!

I have owned this junk for several months now. I use it often when I use it, but never over a period of several days. So, I do not use it daily, if I did, I will be buying a replacement right now... a competitors of course. Issues:

The heat does not regulate in it at all.

The glass door is a joke, it does not close due to a catch on the bottom of the left hand side, you have to keep pushing it down so the door will close right.

The blower in it is noisy.

The black paint on it already is showing signs of heating up and discoloring and is looking bad.

The unit is very light, poorly made overall.

There is no shelf on the bottom of the unit if you wanted to make several things at once, you can't.

The rack slips out of the grooves in the sides and falls down.

Oster.... You should be ashamed of yourselves for putting out such garbage. Buyers beware, 199% JUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe how bad the latest toaster ovens have become. They certainly weren't designed for making toast. It's not only Black & Decker -- all the brands have gone old-school mechanical... or else fully digital with price tags over $75.

To get lightly toasted bread, I have to turn the timer dial clockwise past 20 minutes, then turn it counterclockwise to 1/4" of the off position. It's almost impossible to do this consistently, especially since the dial doesn't even have a line that points to the light/dark picture of the toast. (I painted one on using white-out to help, but it's still tricky.) I might try the TRO480, which has a timer that "only" goes to 30 minutes instead of 60, to see if that helps.

This model, the TRO4075, has a convection fan setting. But the fan's location inside the oven results in the elimination of part of the right slide-rail that holds the tray. So when you slide the tray out, it leans down, and waffles slide out onto the glass door or counter top.

Finally, if you open the door while toasting, the toaster does not stop! The glowing hot elements keep cooking away.

Oh, and the blue power-on light is rather hard to see. Unfortunately, there's the non-stop ticking sound of the timer to remind you. (Aren't blue LEDs always blindingly bright? Not here.)

One thing I do like is the large room for 4 full-sized pieces of toast. But the frustration of the terrible timer dial outweighs this happiness. What was Black & Decker thinking?

I miss my old $30 toaster oven with the simple one-press switch that popped up when done, and turned off when the door is opened, and didn't tick like a bomb. I know it had electronic parts (1 or 2 chips and a thermostat?), which probably cost a dollar more, but the thing lasted 8 years. People are saying that the mechanical timers fail even faster.

I wanted a basic but reliable toaster oven. An older Black and Decker version we loved finally gave in and I purchased this one after reading one positive review. I absolutely hate this oven. The timer slips and stops clicking but does not turn the over off. It is a fire hazard. A few times the oven kept toasting and I finally noticed the smoke and burning smell. I usually use the "light" or "medium" setting but one of us has to literally stand next to the oven while toasting to manually turn it off. I wish I returned it right away.

I was tentative at first with the idea of locating a microwave over a cooktop but wanted to give it a try and gain the additional counter space in the kitchen. I am glad I went with an over the cooktop model as it is very convenient to use even while operating the cooktop at the same time.

Having the controls along the bottom makes it easy to see which button I am pushing and to monitor the cooking time. The microwave has been great for heating casserole dishes as it can easily accommodate a large rectangular glass dish which is very rare. It also move the dish back and forth which makes for unusually even cooking, even better than a standard microwave with a carousel for rotating the food.

The under the unit light works well and the fan with its 3 speeds is also both efficient and not terribly loud. What is noisy is the magnetron tube operation which vibrates a shield which is held on only with tape. I had a technician come out and that is when I saw how the poor design of the shielding caused it to vibrate and rattle quite loudly at times. It is surprising that an otherwise excellent design should suffer from this one oversight on the part of the LG engineers.

The stainless finish is also very good and easier to keep clean than my other stainless appliances. With the microwave in a high visibility location it is nice that it is so easy to keep looking like new even with heavy use.

Overall I would buy this unit again as the benefits of the controls at the bottom and the dual action food movement mechanism compensate for the noisy operation of the unit. There are no other microwave ovens from other manufacturers that have the combination of features present in this LG. The over the counter units from GE and others look like very little thought was put into their design and they are hasty conversions of counter top models.

I purchase this oven to replace a Sharp countertop model I've had for years. The only reason I replaced it was because I remodeled my kitchen and I wanted to free up as much counter space as I could so I went to this LG over-the-range microwave and I'm sorry that I did. This LG can't hold a candle to my old Sharp. Using the re-circulating vent sounds like a frieght train and hardly removes any smoke at all. The door is flimsy and there is no way that you can close the door without slamming it shut and making a loud bang. It does cook ok but so does a $50.00 oven that you could buy at Walmart. For the price of this oven, I should be satisfied but not so. I'm very dissapointed and hope you don't make the same mistake that I did.

I have never had any problems whatsoever with this microwave. I've had one in my apartment for a couple years, using it almost every day. I bought one for my parents and it's been solid for them as well.

It's probably the smartest microwave I've used, too. You can set the kitchen timer while the unit is already microwaving, and vice versa. Pressing +30 seconds will start the microwave immediately, and you can continue to press +30 seconds to add more time. Have you ever used a microwave that doesn't allow these functions? It's a nightmare. Also, you can press one of the preset buttons and just walk away; the unit will start microwaving after a couple seconds.

No problems with heating, either. It does what you expect it to. Clean and intuitive user interface. You won't be able to change the alert sound, but that's because this is a microwave, not an f'ing toy.

Worked well for the first year. I got it as a family microwave for x-mas 05', broken late feb 07'. The glass turntable is on a PLASTIC holder with PLASTIC wheels for support. The plastic melted in the back and caused a fire, it left the entire unit full of smoke and I think melted the glass!? Either way even for the price it's a not very good, I'm going to be caustous with my next GE purchase as well..

"Does a decent job... til it stops working" 2009-10-18

I used this about twice a week for about a year now. Mainly toast and waffles but occasionally to cook a roast or pork tenderloin, generally with rolls in the top compartment. Did an all right job, probably deserved three stars until it just stopped working. Didn't cook faster than my normal electric oven but I figured I was saving power so I'd use it when I could. One thing to watch out for is the slide out grate. Pull it out two inches... safe.... any more and it starts to lean downward quickly and your broiling hot food slides along with the grate on out the oven. Cleaning was easy.

Overall, an item at this price needs to last much much longer and it really doesn't cook quicker than a normal oven.

First and most important, all of those people returning their "defective" ovens because of a "grinding" sound coming from the "fan" don't know the first thing about a convection oven, so they're missing out on a great product. It's not a fan, nor is it a grinding sound. It's quite normal and it is only noticeable as the AIR PUMP gets up to speed. After that, it's nothing more than a gentle purring sound. In fact, I just went to the kitchen to move my crab cakes from the MicroWave to the Avante Convection Oven and it sounds less like a purr, than a soft humming sound.

Someone was at least smart enough to compare it to the pumping sound of a dishwasher. I call that smart because that's what they're hearing. It's not a fan; it's an air pump. A fan would never survive the 350-500 degree temperatures of an oven like this. The motor would be right in the path of the hot blasting air.

If not the fan would have to be belt driven (melted rubber anyone?) or gear driven and how would you keep the gears lubricated at 500 degrees?

The bottom line is that this is a great oven for finishing off a quick meal that requires browning, after starting it in the microwave. It's not great as a toaster, but it can't be beat for baking or broiling when you don't need a full-sized oven, and you can reduce the cooking time considerably when baking, thanks to the convection provided by the AIR PUMP!

We have owned this toaster oven for 3 years, and it is a mixed review. We have enjoyed its size, both for toasting and for baking. Has been nice for small casseroles, hors d'ouvres and summer alternative to oven. It is slow to warm up, slow to toast, and slow to bake if you do not adjust the temp. We have found that the temperature for the oven is 50 to 75 degrees off. We routinely set the oven that much higher to get the right temp for baking. My biggest complaint is that the control buttons have not been durable. The Temp button got permenantly stuck within the first year. It was fixed under warranty. Now, the Toast button is malfunctioning. It will soon be unusable, and we will need to fix or replace the toaster oven. A toaster oven should last longer than three years, and this one is not inexpensive.

"Has worked great & looks VERY pricey!" 2009-05-08

Ive only had this microwave for a couple weeks but I LOVE it. It has worked great straight from the box, no issues whatsoever. This microwave is replacing an old POS $40 off brand microwave and I couldnt be happier with it... well I could if it was convection =)

I LOVE the style of this oven, it looks so sleek and expensive. I prefer the turn dial to the normal number push pad, true that you cant put in your precise time in "seconds" but Im generally in the kitchen anyways if Im using the microwave so it isnt even a concern in my book. The handle was also a selling point, I really dont like the push-to-open doors and their succeptibility to breaking. I have yet to use the browner so I cant comment on that.

All in all it microwaves great, no complaints, but my favorite thing about it is the sleek look for such a reasonable price.

Rated 4 stars because I cant comment on longevity. So far so good!

Mine was manufactured in May 2007. We use ours at least once per day. We have never used the broiler portion...just no need for it. Our use was primarily for heating covered leftovers or making popcorn. It is in mint shape and clean. Last night, thank goodness it was I who put in a small microwave bowl of pea's to heat up. The top of the oven, above the broiler coils, caught fire. YES...caught fire. Flames and all. The entire roof is now black inside. There was no food residue nor any reason for this to have occured. My belief is something electrical. It is now parked on our garage shelf, unplugged of course, until I hear back from GE. Thank goodness it was me and not my autistic son who likes to make popcorn at night.

While this attractive mid-priced GE microwave would heat food, there were two out of the box factory defects:

1. The rotating glass turntable would only occasionally turn, and when it did there was a scraping sound. Inspection revealed the mechanical clearances beneath were inadequate, allowing the turntable plate to drag.

2. The control knob was intermittent, had to be turned very slowly to work, and when it did, successive display values were erratically incremented.

If you do not need a turntable or control knob, there are cheaper microwaves available. If you do want this or a similar model, suggest you check it before acceptance.

The browning function works - but just slow.

The only improvement that I would suggest is that I wish the buttons are lighted - because in the low light or dark, you may not be able to see the buttons well.

Like the time dial function - very neat feature.

Following the directions, I allowed the oven to 'burn-in'prior to use.

I roasted two chickens as per directions and they turned out great.

The non-stick cookwell worked pretty well but there were a couple of areas where burned-on chicken did stick.

Next time, just to be sure, I'll spray some non-stick cooking material to see if that cures this small problem.

I just bought this toaster oven today at a local Lowe's store for $10 less than the price listed here. This will be my third Euro-Pro oven. The one it is replacing only lasted two years before the "Function" dial got stuck on "Toast" last week, but I like this brand because it has two racks so I can bake more than one thing at a time if necessary. I just want to let everyone know that the dimensions listed here are for the box - not the oven. The actual dimensions of the oven are 17.5 inches wide, 9.5 inches deep, and 10 inches high.

While I agree with the previous review that this toaster oven is inexpensive and that the white color is very nice for blending with any kitchen, I am unhappy with the purchase.

The double rack and multiple trays are a pain to store and use, frankly. You can't open the bottom of the oven to get crumbs out and using the extra crumb tray is a pain, because it burns and it's hard to get in and out. And crumbs still fall below it anyway.

The timer is VERY unpredictable. It often gets stuck when it's under 10 minutes (which is a lot if you're toasting) and so your food burns if you're not right there.

More problematic is that if I want to run several cycles of toast, I can't. It seems that one is its limit. I would recommend using the "Stay on" button if you're doing multiple toasting cycles and just stand right there and watch your toast.

So all in all, I'm never buying another one. And I'm sort of hoping it dies soon so that I can get something else.

The Euro-Pro, which I purchased around Christmas 2006, has been an excellent value for me. It can be found at several major retailers, and I paid less than $30 for mine at Best Buy. Now, if you're all about snob appeal (or a stainless steel chassis) then you'd probably do better buying a Kitchenaid toaster. Sure, you'll pay five times the price, but that's what you get when you desire snob appeal. Actually, you get more than that with the Kitchenaid, but my level of culinary expertise doesn't require the extra features of the higher-priced brands.

Let me extol the virtues of this oven point by point:

1. The Price: It's cheap. It's really cheap.

2. The Look: No, it doesn't have the flair of the stainless steel models, but its clean, white chassis is certainly not offensive.

3. The size: It's not too big, not too small. It doesn't dominate your limited countertop, but it's much roomier inside than similarly-priced models. The Durabrand competitor from Wal-Mart is miniscule compared to this one. Unlike other models at this price, there are two racks inside!

4. Ease of cleaning: I once had a small Black & Decker oven that had a little latch at the bottom that made the bottom swing open. It was an interesting idea, but not always practical. With this one, there is a sliding crumb tray. You simply slide it out and rinse it off. Then you return to its position and you're good to go. It fits very nicely and I've not had one crumb get past it and stick to the bottom of the oven.

5. Ease of operation: It's almost a no-brainer. You have a "bake," "broil," and "toast/pizza" setting. There is a temperature setting that ranges up to 450 degrees. There's a 60 minute timer (rotary dial). There's a red light to indicate that the power is "on." Nothing more, nothing less.

6. Performance: I'm certain that a $150 oven would do better. It had better do better! But if you're looking for a BASIC toaster/countertop oven, you're probably not going to find one better. It does exactly what it claims it will do: Bake, Broil, and Toast. Don't be misled by the "Pizza" setting though. It is really for a slice of pizza or one of those small, plate-sized pizzas. If you want to bake a 16-inch pizza, you're still going to rely on the "big" oven in your kitchen.

Of course, an oven this cheap isn't without a few blemishes as well.

1. The rotary timer doesn't seem to work too well for anything under five minutes.

2. Using the black baking tray on the "toast" setting (where the heat comes from above) will blacken/burn your food. Use this tray ONLY while in the "bake" mode. This isn't a fault of the oven, but many users will probably make the same mistake I did.

3. I burned some food in my oven and now I have an ugly brown haze around the door. I scrubbed a bit too hard with a solution of orange cleaner and a Brill-o pad. Now, I have an ugly brown haze with scratches!

Overall, this is a good oven. It would make a great gift (Christmas, housewarming, or wedding). I think it would be ideal in a dorm room or similarly-sized living arrangement. Now, aside from pizza bites and tater tots, you can also bake a chicken breast or broil a few chops too!

Had this microwave for 2 years. The grill feature gives VERY uneven results - stick to your bbQ grill. It takes a long time to heat anything up and as I found out this week - it cannot pop a bag of popcorn - even a small bag. Well, I admit that I do need to sit down with the manual which I have not done since my preliminary look through gives me the impression of unnecessary complication. However, I can't understand why I have to enter some number that tells the machine what I am going to be cooking (with very few choices available) in order to use the convection feature. Sure I can look up a number in the manual and plug it in, but what am I supposed to do when what I am going to cook is NOT a casserole or a baked potato or one of the very few other choices they provide????

Currently I just pick one of the choices and use it whether or not it is what I am really trying to cook. I would vastly prefer simply to be able to put in the temp. I want to cook an item at and the time I want to cook it for. That would certainly seem to make sense, but apparently you can't do that. Whatever I plug in for a food choice, it does seem to work okay except that preheat takes forever.

The other thing is that I sure wish I had purchased the larger model. This one has too small an interior for many things I might like to fix. I would rather have paid more and have more interior space. Unless you have space limitations, get the larger model. A major reason I did not choose the larger model is that it looked too complicated! How ironic is that.

Other than being too small, the machine works okay except for the weird and unnecessary complications regarding how to use the convection feature. It's very annoying to me. Why can't I just plug in the time and temperature I want to bake at, and put the food in, and cook it?

This microwave worked very well until the 13th Month. (one month after warranty for parts and labor) The microwave quit working. All the other features work fine but the microwave quit heating. I was told by Sharp that I need to call a local repair shop, which I did. Sharp will replace the magnatron but will not cover the labor which is just about the cost of a standard microwave. Too bad for me. Anyways it's decision time to see if we want all the features this has and spend about 100.00 or buy new. I must say that I have never had a microwave oven quit after only 1 year, even a cheap one. Not sure if I just got a bad unit or just not a good durable unit to begin with.

We bought a shop manual for $35.00 and a new latch which we received nine months later from Sharp for $21.00 and installed it ourselves. It worked another 3 months then the turntable mechanism self incinerated causing final death of now out of warranty oven.

You'd think we would have learned, but we needed a new small microwave and the convection feature was really handy for us so we got one of these new small ones. It lasted one year and six months before a loud internal arcing sound signaled it's terminal death.

We have a couple lovely Panasonic microwaves that work perfectly year after year.

The positive reviews for this oven reflect a very short term satisfaction. Reviewed after owning them a while would not yeild a satisfactory experience.

The Sharp convection microwaves are total junk and should not be allowed to be sold.

This is my first GE product, and my second convection/microwave oven. I searched online for the highest rated convection/microwave and the GE Profile came up everytime.

These are the reasons why I like this product:

1) The preprogrammed microwave times are perfect. I can tell GE spent time testing this product before placing it on the market.

2) Microwave POWER LEVEL 1 is perfect for softening butter to spreadable consistancy. No more pools of melted butter wasted!

3) REHEAT has a sensor that turns the power off when the right amount of steam is generated inside the oven. No more chewy dough when reheating rolls and pastries!

4) PREHEAT in convection and combination mode is quick! My previous convection oven took forever to preheat.

These are the things I would change about this product:

1) The baking rack is not a slide in rack so when placed on the microwave plate it rotates. I suggest when baking with a pan larger than the baking rack ie. 11X7 or 13x9, remove the microwave plate before placing the baking rack in the oven and then preheat.

2) The foods I baked in the convection oven actually took longer than my regular oven to finish cooking. I did not try the combination convection/microwave feature, perhaps that would take the normal amount of time to cook....

3) Changing the POWER LEVEL can only be done after the microwave has started cooking the food. The option to change the POWER LEVEL should have been available before the unit turns on.

Overall, this product is perfect for the weekend chef and everyday microwave user. I would not recommend this product to a consumer who intends on heavy convection use, as they would become frustrated with longer cook times and/or under cooked foods.

Has been really nice to bake breads and side dishes while baking main meal in the big oven. I can bake cookies in here before my big oven is even preheated.... While I have found no problems with the microwave portion of this oven, the convection portion is an entirely different matter safety wise. The outside of the cabinet gets HOT. I mean REALLY HOT. I called GE and the CSR tried to assure me that the oven was operating within "reasonable" safety limits. When I pressured her to elaborate on GE's definition of what "reasonable" is, she stated that the outsides of the oven could reach temperatures ranging between 150 and 212 degrees! Thats the boiling point of water!

We bought this oven six months ago to install in our new home and have been using it for three months now. Part of the reason we chose this model was styling and part was the availability of a rebate. GE has yet to make good on the rebate (although our retailer says the GE rep insists they eventually will come through).

More importantly, the unit performs poorly. It rattles when on full power. It simply cannot soften a refrigerated stick of butter and instead creates a small but explosive pool of yellow liquid surrounded by rock hard butter (even on the lowest power). In addition, though we have used the oven only lightly and the convection feature only a handful of times, the so-called stainless steel interior is already stained and darkening.

I did a great deal of research on convection microwaves but was sucked in at the last minute by the rebate offer (aka "scam"). If I were granted a do-over, I would do what I should have done in the first place and gone with Panasonic, Amana, or Sharp.

Now I hear GE is selling off its home appliance business. No wonder. Buyer beware.

I ordered this for my husband for Christmas. We got it on a Friday. We've used it every day since (5 days). Meat is juicy and tender, & done! We've browned hashbrowns. We've good sausage and bacon. We love it. I'm telling you, it's worth every penny. If you do some trial and error with arranging food in it you will be happy with it. As far as the timing--to me, a chicken takes about the same amount of time. But smaller things are done in a snap.

I have used this only 6 times since receiving it; I read a number of 'reviews' prior to purchase so that I'd know what to expect. I have been disappointed; for example, it doesn't work if you wrap potatoes in aluminum foil, as the accompanying booklet says you can; it also consistently takes almost as much time as the oven to cook stuff...and I continually have to re-cook foods two and three times just to get them DONE...I keep hoping I will find foods that cook easily in this countertop oven, but haven't thus far. I do realize it takes much less electricity, so from that standpoint it is better than heating the entire oven. But I have to say I wish I had not purchased this product.

"Dead in Ten Months / Burn Hazard / Faulty Timer" 2009-09-09

I received my DeLonghi the first week of Oct 2008 and it died the first week of Aug 2009. It is very easy to burn yourself on the upper heating element while pulling something out of the unit because you can not pull the rack forward. The rack will fall down if you pull it forward at all, so you have to reach in with your hotpad to pull dishes out, which can result in burning your hand. The toast timer does not always move toward 'done', although it makes the noise as if it is working, resulting in burnt toast. We had to check every time we made toast to be sure the timer was actually moving. Also, I could not find a chicken small enough to fit the rotisserie. I love the color and look of the unit, but will not be buying another one.

I was so excited to get this product but, I have to say, the timer stopped working almost immediately. If you keep a close eye on your toast, it's fine. I do really love the rotisserie function and have made chicken about 3 times. You do have to be careful to find a chicken that is small enough that it won't rotate into the heating elements on the top. The broiler is nice, since I can broil a small meal for 2 without heating up the apartment with the full size oven. I've also baked in it, which went fine.

This oven works wonderful and is very attractive to boot! I also like the fact that it has extensions in the back so it cannot be placed too close to the wall and/or the cord can be free of crimping. It is very quiet when running. The only improvement I would like to see is a light when the oven door is opened. I have a couple of other DeLonghi appliances and they are wonderful also.

We really like this toaster oven and have used it successfully for over 3 years. I will admit that we do not use it for toasting bread, it simply takes too long because of it's size. But I use it multiple times every day for cooking and warming food. Since we do not use a microwave due to the research that I have read about it causing cancer, this oven is indispensable to me. I don't like to turn on the big oven unless I really need to, and this little one is perfect for most jobs.

We received this oven as a gift to replace a smaller older B&D toaster oven. We wish we had never made the switch. This oven heats inconsistently-- sometimes it gets very hot and sometimes it doesn't seem to be hot at all. When it does get itself going, it cooks unevenly, burning everything placed in the rear. It cools down quickly, but puts out a good amount of heat on all sides while cooking, and sometimes it feels hotter outside than in. Last night I put a piece of apple pie in the oven in a piece of foil and it took 30 minutes at the 300 degree setting to get to lukewarm. Save your money and look for something else.

We've had this toast-r-oven for about 2.5 years. It worked fine for approximately 6 months until the oven feature conked out. Based on other reviews, this seems to be a common occurrence. The toaster function is still working fine, but at nearly 18 inches wide, this monstrosity is much to large (not to mention sloooow) to function solely as bread toaster. Plus it requires that the bread be flipped frequently for even browning. The timer makes a super loud and annoying ticking sound. (Though we don't have pets of our own, we can't use the toaster when dog-sitting because it drives the visiting canines bonkers.) The only reason I put up with it for so long is that I've been too poor and too lazy to purchase a replacement. We're currently searching for a new toast-r-oven and it likely won't be a Black & Decker.

The picture looks good but when I got it, it was so cheaply made I doubt if Big Lots would stoop so low to sell it.

Got it during the holiday rush so haven't had time to send back. I don't even want to try to use it. I'm sure after 1 use there will be burnt stuff that can't be scraped off. It is not a quality item...even brand new it looks bad. After the shipping and taxes I could have bought a larger Rival nice looking roaster, they really gouge you on shipping. Pleasee don't waste your money.

After using the roaster only once, the liner was very difficult to clean. I noticed the rim of the liner showed signs of rust. I returned the item to Amazon. Upon going to the Nesco website, I learned you can purchase a better quality liner for an additional $18. That would be OK if I were using the oringinal liner for a couple of years, but not after only one use. Love the cooker itself, poor quality on the liner.

"Horrible Microwave" 2007-10-19

I have to say that I like a lot of the features of this microwave, but our first one of this model died after only about 1 year, and now our second one is has strange flashing lights and is making weird noises, so we don't dare use it! We have had this second one for about 2 years. Our next microwave will definitely NOT be a General Electric product.

This is great, I have had a year or so to use, I would buy again, works better that the biger one I have, May buy another to keep in case they discontinue as I don't want to have to do without, cook just about everything in it even meatloaf.

I'm sure this product works great for people with large hands but if you're petite or even have medium-sized hands, this product is more dangerous than safe. It's difficult to grip anything securely which can lead to more serious burns if you drop a pan/pot.

*Way* more flexible than the Orkas I tried out in a local kitchen store and slightly less expensive. With their cloth interiors, they seem to grip to your hand better, rendering a more secure feeling, all the while providing adequate thermal resistance. They're long enough to provide good distal forearm protection (better than our previous all cloth model) and easy to clean up, especially if you keep the inner linings grease free. I specifically purchased the 'electric blue' version to ensure compatibility with our electric oven and have not been disappointed (kidding... just KIDDING!(heh!))!
